Our One-Hour Minimum

Meaningful Support Without a Long Visit

Sometimes a person does not need several hours of assistance. They may simply need companionship, a reassuring check-in, help with a few light tasks, or someone to spend time with a loved one living in a residential care community.

One Hour Can Make a Difference

A focused visit can provide connection, reassurance, practical assistance, and peace of mind without requiring the client or family to schedule more time than the situation calls for.

One-Hour Minimum Visit

Flexible by Design

Support That Fits the Need—not a Required Block of Hours

Many service providers require visits lasting several hours. That structure may be appropriate for people who need extensive care, but it can be more time and expense than necessary for someone seeking limited, non-medical support.

Space Coast Support Services offers a one-hour minimum so clients and families can arrange meaningful help for shorter needs. Each visit is planned in advance, limited to approved tasks, and delivered within our non-medical, non-hands-on service scope.

Additional time may be scheduled when needed and available, but clients are not automatically required to book a lengthy visit simply to receive companionship, reminders, reassurance, or light practical assistance.

What Can Fit Into a One-Hour Visit?

Companion Visit Conversation, reading, music, cards, puzzles, or quiet company.
Wellness Check-In A reassuring visit, general observation, and an authorized factual update.
Light Household Support A few agreed tasks such as dishes, trash, mail, or simple tidying.
Facility Companion Visit Time with a loved one in assisted living, rehabilitation, or a nursing facility.
Reminder Support Reviewing a calendar, upcoming appointments, activities, and planned routines.
Short Caregiver Break Approved companionship while a caregiver handles a brief appointment or errand.

Why a One-Hour Minimum Matters

This flexible model makes it easier to request the right amount of support for the situation.

More Affordable Access

Families are not automatically paying for several hours when one focused visit may meet the need.

Easier to Schedule

Short visits may fit more naturally around appointments, work, facility routines, and family responsibilities.

Meaningful Connection

One attentive hour of conversation and companionship can reduce isolation and brighten the day.

Support Without Taking Over

The visit focuses on approved needs while preserving the client’s independence and involvement.

How the Visit Is Planned

The consultation helps us confirm that the requested visit fits our scope and that one hour is reasonably appropriate.

  • The requested services are discussed before scheduling.
  • Approved tasks are documented in the service agreement.
  • The visit follows an agreed schedule and task list.
  • Client preferences and facility rules are respected.
  • Additional time may be scheduled when needed and available.
  • Authorized updates may be provided after the visit.

When One Hour May Not Be Appropriate

A one-hour visit is not a substitute for continuous supervision, hands-on care, medical services, or support requiring a licensed provider.

  • The person requires bathing, dressing, toileting, or feeding.
  • Lifting, transfers, repositioning, or mobility help is needed.
  • The person cannot safely remain alone before or after the visit.
  • Medication handling or medical monitoring is required.
  • The situation requires nursing, home health, or emergency care.
  • The requested tasks cannot reasonably be completed within scope.

Not Sure Whether a One-Hour Visit Is Right?

Schedule a free consultation so we can discuss the requested support, confirm that it fits our service scope, and determine an appropriate visit length and schedule.

Our Service Boundaries

Clear Boundaries. Dependable Support.

Clear service boundaries protect clients, families, and providers. They also help ensure that every visit is appropriate, respectful, and delivered within our non-medical, non-clinical, and non-hands-on scope.

Supplemental Support Between Visits

Helping Fill the Gaps in the Day

Some clients already receive home health, companion, therapy, or other scheduled services but still benefit from a brief check-in before or after those providers are present.

12–3 PM Home health, therapy, or another scheduled provider
Evening Space Coast Support Services reassurance or companion visit
Later Family follow-up or next scheduled provider visit

We Can Complement Existing Services

Space Coast Support Services may be used alongside home health, companion services, rehabilitation, hospice, therapy, family support, or other providers when the requested task fits our approved scope.

For example, a client may receive licensed home health services from noon until 3:00 p.m. but benefit from an evening reassurance visit, friendly conversation, calendar reminder, light household task, or brief authorized update to a family member.

Our role is to provide additional non-medical presence and practical support—not to replace, supervise, direct, or extend the duties of a licensed provider.

  • Evening or morning reassurance visits
  • Companionship between other scheduled services
  • Brief facility visits when family members live out of the area
  • Reminder and routine support after another provider leaves
  • Light, approved household tasks during a short visit
  • Authorized factual updates to a designated family contact
Important distinction

Supplemental support does not mean continuous supervision. We are not responsible for the client between visits, and we do not assume the duties of a home health agency, nurse, personal-care provider, guardian, case manager, or emergency-response service.

How We Work Alongside Families and Other Providers

Clear communication helps avoid confusion about responsibilities and keeps each provider within the appropriate role.

Separate Service Responsibilities

Our service agreement identifies the tasks we are authorized to perform. Another provider’s responsibilities remain separate.

Authorized Family Updates

When permission is documented, we may share a brief factual summary about the visit and significant non-clinical observations.

Appropriate Referrals

When a request falls outside our scope, we explain the limitation and encourage the client or family to contact an appropriately licensed provider.

Space Coast Support Services is not an emergency-response service.

Call 911 immediately for medical emergencies, falls, suspected injuries, difficulty breathing, chest pain, sudden confusion, threats to safety, or any situation requiring urgent assistance. When an emergency is observed during a visit, we may contact 911 and the designated emergency contact.
